The CU Check Card

Our CU Check Card is an “enhanced” ATM card with the purchasing power of MasterCard. Use it to withdraw cash at any ATM. Or, use it for purchases anywhere MasterCard or ATM cards are accepted. Use it to get cash back when making a purchase as well.

Statewide ATM Network



Our CU Check Card can be used surcharge-free and free of foreign transaction fees* anywhere you see the Falcon logo in Vermont. At a “full service” Falcon ATM, you can deposit money to your Credit Union accounts. Click here for a list of Falcon ATMs.

National ATM Network



Use your CU Check Card at an ATM that is part of the CO-OP Network which provides nationwide surcharge-free** ATM access for withdrawals.

The CO-OP ATM network connects our members to over 25,000 credit union-owned ATM locations in all 50 states and 10 countries. (ATMs at banks are not in the CO-OP Network.) In addition, cardholders will soon be able to load CO-OP Network locations into their GPS device, and get the five closest CO-OP Network locations by text message to their cell phone.

• Malls and discount stores like Costco and Kmart
• Other credit unions
• Convenience stores
• Supermarkets
• U.S. Military bases
• And many more

**What does surcharge-free mean?

You will not be charged a surcharge fee from that particular ATM for a withdrawal, however, you may still incur a foreign transaction fee from Granite Hills. This information is found in your GHCU Disclosure.

CU Check Card Usage Tips

If you don’t want cash back at a retail location, you should always choose the credit option at a retailer. Why?

1. Avoid fees. You are allowed 3 PIN-based purchases per month at no charge. You will be charged $0.50 for each PIN based purchase thereafter.
2. With the CREDIT option, funds come directly out of your checking account just as if you’d written a check. (Merchants will only clear amounts up to your available balance.)
3. It’s quicker and simpler than writing a check — No identification is required. There’s no PIN to remember! Plus, the merchant’s name appears on your statement allowing for simpler account reconciliation.
